(3) The
third Périphérique took place on October 25th 2003, in an
industrial space undergoing transformations, on Holt street in Montreal.
Performances gravitated around a core of spectators moving about in the
space filled with scaffholdings and construction materials.
Dominique
Sirois + David Jacques
improvised using various motorized and transformed elements, self-made
wave generators, contact and electromagnetic mics, pedals. This resulted
in a dense sound ambient of electric impulses, continuously evolving with
various delay set-ups.
Sébastien
Lapointe interacted with a custom-designed video interface,
specifically programmed for exploring issues of hearing and perceiving
one's own (and the other's) voice. Recorded voices from video interviews
with four persons on the matter were controlled through real time manipulation.
Looking at video sequences projected on a screen, the relation to our
perception of these recorded voices appropriated by the programmed apparatus
became gradually unsettling. Rythmic intervals and fragmented loops were
generated by this device of repetition and differenciation.
Aimé
Dontigny gave a rare performance involving personal
writings and sound manipulations. Cut-ups mixed with traficated sound
experiments, unveiling states of desire and illusions, contexts of oppression
and resistance.
